Management — student questions
Each answer is written from the official document and quotes the rule it rests on, with the page. Rules change every year, so every answer says which year it is based on.
Entrance exams
- How does MAH-MBA/MMS CET scoring and percentile work? The Maharashtra MBA/MMS Common Entrance Test (MAH-MBA/MMS CET) has 200 multiple-choice questions worth 1 mark each, with no negative marking. Your percentile is calculated from your raw (actual) marks. If you take both attempts, the better of your two percentile scores is used for admission.Previous-year reference
- How is MAH-MBA/MMS CET normalised across shifts? The MAH-MBA/MMS CET brochure says that when the test is held in more than one session, scores across sessions are equated to adjust for slight differences in difficulty. Percentiles are calculated from raw marks. The brochure does not give the exact method; the State CET Cell publishes it in a separate normalisation document on its official website.Previous-year reference
- How do I fill the MAH-MBA/MMS CET 2027 application form? The MAH-MBA/MMS CET application is filled online only, by logging in at www.mahacet.org. You register, complete Aadhaar authentication and APAAR ID verification through DigiLocker, upload your photograph, choose one or both attempts and pay the fee online. These steps are from the 2026 brochure; the 2027 brochure may change them.Previous-year reference
- Can I use CAT, CMAT or other national test scores in Maharashtra MBA CAP instead of MAH-CET?It depends on your candidature type. Maharashtra State candidates must have a non-zero score in MAH-MBA/MMS CET. All India candidates and Jammu & Kashmir/Ladakh migrant candidates can instead use a non-zero positive score in CAT, CMAT, XAT, ATMA, MAT or GMAT.Previous-year reference
- Where do I find the official MBA/MMS CAP notices and schedule in Maharashtra? The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra publishes MBA/MMS CAP notices, schedules and any revised dates on its website, www.mahacet.org. The seat matrix for each round and the allotment lists are also shown there; no allotment letters are sent personally.Previous-year reference
Maharashtra CAP
- How does Maharashtra MBA/MMS CAP work from registration to admission? In the Centralized Admission Process (CAP), you register online with the State CET Cell, upload your documents and get them verified, and then appear in a merit list. Before each round you fill an option form of institutes and courses; seats are allotted by merit, and you accept your seat online or at a reporting centre before confirming admission at the institute.Previous-year reference
- What is the difference between CAP seats and institute-level seats in MBA colleges?CAP seats are allotted centrally by the State CET Cell through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). Institute-level seats — the Institution Quota and seats still vacant after CAP — are filled by the institute itself, strictly on merit, after the CAP rounds. For both, you must first register with the CET Cell and get your documents verified.Previous-year reference
- How are All India seats filled in Maharashtra MBA colleges? All India seats are 15% of the sanctioned intake in Maharashtra MBA/MMS institutes. They are filled through CAP on the percentile score in MAH-MBA/MMS CET, CAT, CMAT, XAT, ATMA, MAT or GMAT, and are treated as General category seats with no reservation.Previous-year reference
- What documents do I need for Maharashtra MBA/MMS CAP?Every candidate uploads scans of the original SSC and HSC/Diploma mark sheets, the qualifying (degree) examination mark sheet, the entrance-test scorecard and proof of Indian nationality. You add documents for your candidature type, such as a domicile or birth certificate, and for any reservation you claim, such as caste validity, non-creamy layer, EWS or disability certificates.Previous-year reference
- After MBA CAP allotment, what are my options: accept, betterment or cancel? If you get your first preference in Round I, one of your first three in Round II or one of your first six in Round III, the seat is auto-frozen and you must accept it. Otherwise you can freeze the seat, accept it and stay in later rounds for betterment, or not accept it and still take part in later rounds. After admission you can cancel online; how much is refunded depends on when you cancel.Previous-year reference
- How does admission to government-aided MMS institutes in Mumbai work?Government and government-aided management institutes in Maharashtra, including those in Mumbai offering the Master of Management Studies (MMS), admit students through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) run by the State CET Cell. Their seats are split between Maharashtra State candidates and All India candidates, and seats are allotted on merit and your option form.Previous-year reference
- How do EWS, SEBC and OBC reservations apply in Maharashtra MBA CAP?In Maharashtra MBA/MMS CAP, 19% of the CAP seats for Maharashtra candidates are reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and 10% for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC), subject to the High Court's decision. Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates get 10% seats over and above the sanctioned intake. These reservations apply only to candidates belonging to Maharashtra State.Previous-year reference
- Do Maharashtra CAP MBA colleges conduct their own GD or PI?The 2026–27 admission rules do not mention a group discussion (GD) or personal interview (PI) for MBA/MMS admission. CAP seats are allotted by computer, using the merit list based on the entrance-test score, your option form and the seats available. Institute-level seats must also be filled strictly in order of merit.Previous-year reference
- Can I join the MBA CAP in a later round if I missed the first registration?Under the 2026–27 rules, only candidates whose CAP application was registered and confirmed in time appear in the merit list, and only merit-list candidates can take part in CAP rounds. If you registered but did not fill the option form for an earlier round, you can still join later rounds. The documents do not describe a separate late-registration window.Previous-year reference
