Do Maharashtra CAP MBA colleges conduct their own GD or PI?

Previous-year referenceApproved by M.B. Patil Education admissions team, 23 Oct 2026 · source-checked 22 Oct 2026

Short answer

The 2026–27 admission rules do not mention a group discussion (GD) or personal interview (PI) for MBA/MMS admission. CAP seats are allotted by computer, using the merit list based on the entrance-test score, your option form and the seats available. Institute-level seats must also be filled strictly in order of merit.

Based on the State CET Cell's Information Brochure for 2026–27 admissions (dated 02.07.2026). The 2027–28 brochure hasn't been published yet — rules can change, so check it when it is.

Who this applies to

Candidates seeking first-year MBA/MMS admission in Maharashtra through CAP or institute-level seats

The rule, explained

The MBA merit list is prepared from the score in MAH-MBA/MMS CET or another accepted entrance test. Ties are broken using HSC or 10+2 (or Diploma) and SSC marks.

CAP Rounds I, II, III and IV are conducted by computerised allotment. Seats are allotted by inter-se merit, the options you filled and the seats available at that point.

For Institution Quota seats and seats vacant after CAP, the institute admits candidates after the CAP rounds, in a transparent manner and strictly by the inter-se merit of candidates who applied to the State CET Cell for document verification and then to the institute.

The rules do not describe a GD, PI or institute test as part of either process.
