How old can my OBC non-creamy layer certificate be for NEET counselling?

Previous-year referenceApproved by M.B. Patil Education admissions team, 23 Oct 2026 · source-checked 22 Oct 2026

Short answer

MCC's UG 2026 bulletin does not set a maximum age or validity period for the OBC-NCL certificate. What its certificate format says is that your parents' annual income/status should be based on the financial year ending March 31, 2026.

Based on MCC's UG Counselling 2026 Information Bulletin (revised 20.08.2026). The 2027 bulletin hasn't been published yet — rules can change, so check it when it is.

Who this applies to

OBC-NCL candidates claiming OBC reservation in MCC counselling (All India Quota and other seats MCC fills)

The rule, explained

The OBC-NCL format in the bulletin (Annexure 4) certifies that you do not belong to the creamy layer, as defined in the Government of India orders it names "or the latest notification of the Government of India". It also says the annual income/status of your parents should be based on the financial year ending March 31, 2026.

The certificate itself must be an OBC-NCL certificate as per the Central List, issued by the competent authority, in the standard format given in the bulletin, and your sub-caste should tally with the Central List of OBC.

The bulletin also advises candidates to check the allotted college's information for any other document the college may require.
