Previous-year referenceApproved by M.B. Patil Education admissions team, 23 Oct 2026 · source-checked 22 Oct 2026

Short answer

You need Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English in your qualifying examination. For the Class 12 route (qualifying code 02), the bulletin says the study must include practical tests in these subjects.

Based on the NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin. The 2027 bulletin hasn't been published yet — rules can change, so check it when it is.

Who this applies to

Candidates who want to appear in NEET (UG) for MBBS, BDS and AYUSH (BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS) admission

The rule, explained

The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin calls Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology along with English the requisite subjects. Biotechnology can be taken in place of Biology.

Qualifying code 02 covers the Higher/Senior Secondary (Class 12) examination after 12 years of study. It needs these subjects with practical tests, plus Mathematics or any other elective subject, with English at a level not less than the core English course prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

Codes 03 to 07 cover other routes, such as an Intermediate/Pre-degree science exam, a Pre-professional/Pre-medical exam, the first year of a degree course or a B.Sc. Each of these is built around Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.

For BAMS, BSMS, BUMS and BHMS admission, the bulletin says candidates must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology. BUMS also needs Urdu, Arabic or Persian as a subject in the 10th standard (or passing an Urdu test of 10th standard level where one is held). BSMS needs Tamil as a subject in the 10th standard or Higher Secondary, or studying Tamil during the First Professional course.
