Short answer
You register by filling the online CAP application form, uploading scanned copies of your original documents, and getting them verified as the State CET Cell prescribes. If you apply on the basis of MHT-CET, you don't pay an application fee. If you apply only on the basis of a national exam such as JEE (Main), the 2026–27 fee, paid online and non-refundable, was ₹1,300 for General category Maharashtra, Outside Maharashtra State (OMS) and some other candidates, ₹1,000 for reserved category, EWS and Persons with Disability candidates from Maharashtra, and USD 50 for NRI, OCI, PIO and foreign national candidates.
Based on the State CET Cell's Information Brochure for 2026–27 admissions (dated 02.07.2026). The 2027–28 brochure hasn't been published yet — fees and rules can change, so check it when it is.
Who this applies to
Candidates applying for first-year B.E./B.Tech. through Maharashtra CAP
The rule, explained
Fill the online application form within the notified schedule. You can do it from any internet-connected computer or device, or at a Facilitation Centre; the list of Facilitation Centres is published on the website and they help you fill the form and scan and upload documents.
Upload scanned images of your original documents while filling the form. After submitting, check and correct your details, print the submitted form and sign it. The printout lists the documents you must produce, so carry a set of photocopies.
Document verification at the Facilitation Centre (or by the method the CET Cell prescribes) is mandatory, and you must produce all original documents for the claims you make. Once the application form is confirmed, you can't change the information.
Fees: MHT-CET candidates need not pay the application fee. Candidates applying only through national-level exams pay the fee online. The brochure adds that the application processing fee will be as notified by the CET Cell and is non-refundable. If you are later allotted a seat, a separate seat acceptance fee, decided by the CET Cell, is paid when you accept it.
