Short answer
Yes. If your Class 12 result is awaited, you can apply and appear in NEET (UG) under qualifying code 01. But you will not be eligible for admission if you have not passed the qualifying examination at the time of the first round of counselling.
Based on the NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin. The 2027 bulletin hasn't been published yet — rules can change, so check it when it is.
Who this applies to
Candidates who are appearing in their Class 12 (qualifying) examination in the same year as NEET (UG)
The rule, explained
In the NEET (UG) 2026 form, candidates appearing in Class 12 in 2026 had to select qualifying code 01. Candidates who had already passed chose one of codes 02 to 07.
The eligibility rules quoted in the bulletin say such a candidate may be provisionally permitted to take the entrance exam. If selected, they will not be admitted to the course until they meet the eligibility criteria.
So you must pass the qualifying examination, with the required subjects, by the time of the first round of counselling.
What the official document says
A candidate who is appearing in the qualifying examination, whose 12th result is awaited, may apply and appear in the test but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the Undergraduate Medical Courses if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination at the time of first round of Counseling.
