Who this applies to
Candidates who studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology or English as an additional subject
The rule, explained
This rule comes from a National Medical Commission (NMC) decision at its meeting on 14.06.2023, set out in a Public Notice dated 22.11.2023. The NMC said that the National Education Policy (NEP) allows a lot of flexibility in Class 12 subjects, so the earlier approach of the former Medical Council of India needed to be revisited.
Candidates who studied the requisite subjects even as additional subjects are allowed to appear in NEET (UG), and can also be granted an Eligibility Certificate.
Two conditions apply. The subjects must be from a board duly recognised by the concerned government. And you must provide documentary evidence that you passed the qualifying examination with the required subjects.
