How much is the MCC security deposit and when is it refunded or forfeited?

Previous-year referenceApproved by M.B. Patil Education admissions team, 23 Oct 2026 · source-checked 22 Oct 2026

Short answer

MCC's refundable security deposit is ₹2,00,000 for Deemed Universities. For 15% All India Quota, Central Universities, AFMC, ESI, AIIMS, JIPMER and B.Sc. Nursing it is ₹10,000 for Unreserved (UR)/EWS candidates and ₹5,000 for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates. It is refunded only after all rounds of counselling are over, to the same account you paid from. You lose it if you don't join a seat allotted in Round 2 or a later round, or if your admission is cancelled for any reason.

Based on MCC's UG Counselling 2026 Information Bulletin (revised 20.08.2026). The 2027 bulletin hasn't been published yet — rules can change, so check it when it is.

The rule, explained

You also pay a non-refundable registration fee: ₹5,000 for Deemed Universities, or ₹1,000 (UR/EWS) / ₹500 (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) for the other seats. If you apply for both Deemed and government seats, you pay only the higher (Deemed University) fee — ₹5,000 plus ₹2,00,000.

Refund timing: once all rounds are completed, MCC publishes a list of candidates eligible for refund on www.mcc.nic.in. The Financial Custodian starts the refund within 15 working days and completes it within 30 days of that list. The money reaches your account 2 to 15 days after that, depending on your bank. You don't need to apply for it.

The refund goes only to the card or bank account you paid from, so keep that account active until the refund is done.

Forfeiture: you lose the deposit if you are allotted a seat in Round 2 or a later round and don't join it, or if your admission is cancelled — for example because you gave wrong information at registration or couldn't produce the required documents in time.
