AIIMS and other Open Seat Quota institutes
MCC counsels the MBBS seats of AIIMS, JIPMER and some central-university colleges (such as BHU’s Institute of Medical Sciences and AMU’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College) under the Open Seat Quota. Their Open-category seats close far earlier: in Round 1, the highest closing rank was 4,310 across 25 institutes, with the median at 1,705.

How to use these numbers
- Compare like with like. Closing ranks differ by quota and category — Open AIQ ranks say nothing about OBC, SC, ST, EWS or PwBD seats, or about state-quota counselling.
- Look at all rounds. A college that looks out of reach in Round 1 can come within range later — and the reverse.
- History, not a promise. Every year’s seats, applicants and choices differ. Use these ranks to build a realistic list, not to rule colleges in or out.
