The most sought-after specialties
M.D. (Radio-Diagnosis) topped the list: its median college closed at rank 622. M.D. (DERM., VENE. and Leprosy)/(dermatology)/(skin and Venereal Diseases)/(venereology) (1,124) and M.D. (General Medicine) (1,313) followed. A lower median means seats in that specialty went to higher-ranked candidates across most colleges — not just the famous ones.

Reading this the right way
- One round, one quota, one category. These are Round 1 closing ranks for Open-category All India Quota seats. Other categories, deemed and central university seats, and state-quota counselling all close differently.
- Demand isn’t one thing. Career plans, the college, its location and any service-bond conditions all shape where candidates lock their choices — a specialty’s rank tells you where it filled, not whether it suits you.
- Use it to plan your choice list — and pair it with the 2026 seat matrices and schedules on the portal.
